Temperature dependent dissipation in silicon mechanical resonators

Abstract:
We describe results of measurements of Q-factor of silicon mechanical resonator at the temperature range of 5 K - 300 K. The silicon cylinder with diameter of 7.7 cm and length of 60 cm had the resonant frequency of the fundamental longitudinal mode of 7.4 kHz. It was found Q = 1.4x10^8 at room temperature and Q = 1.9x10^9 at T = 5 K. Also we analyze results reported by other authors.
