Investigation into Cavity Axis Shifts and Tilts Using the Finesse Modal Model

Abstract:

We investigate using the modal model to predict cavity axis tilts and shifts in response to mirror motion. We compare our results against a geometric analysis of the cavity and find that the inclusion of loss in the modal model leads to a small change in the predicted spot position. We outline a general method using Finesse to predict spot positions and wavefront tilts throughout the detector.
